Currency Fair no longer has its Marketplace, which was the best feature.
XE wont let me open an account with a Swiss Address.
I would need to pay Revolut 10.99CHF pcm for the plan to avoid their fees.
I dont think that Wise would be any cheaper with the .48% fees it is quoting.
It looks like the days of very cheap currency transfers are over...
I guess exchange rates fluctuate, so good to check both each time.
The currencyFair marketplace was amazing. I miss that. That said, I have a gut feeling they didn't close it; but only limited access to Switzerland given our restrictive laws on funds. I need to ask friends in the UK...
I say this as they still advertise the marketplace on their site. I've heard Wise still have a marketplace... but they too charge 0.43% to transfer out... so not exactly cheap.
In the revolut app, click on exchange. Then at the top right you will see "Market Order" - click that. Now you can set a stop or limit order.
It's not as good as currencyFair's old version in that it doesn't do partial fulfillment; but you can hack that by splitting your order into 10-20 smaller orders. (e.g. 20x 5,000 orders at the same limit, or even spread them a little). It also doesn't let you "slide" the rate to set it based on how much you want, you can only set it based on rate... but that's just an inconvenience and not a limitation.
Now comes the annoying part - just did a transfer using this via Revolut.... while I have a Revolut premium account, and thus "no fees", I got charged 112-euros for the transfer (or more accurately, 112 euro less arrived in the recipients account). No clue why. Never happened with currencyFair (similar values).
