Travel Restrictions

Same experience here. Checked on boarding, no checks on arrival. I actually asked the officer at immigration if he wanted to see my test certificates and he emphatically said 'no'.

I, too, was confused by the BAG's boarding/entry requirements. I tried calling the BAG hotline for clarification - no luck getting through. Tried emailing, no response. In desperation I called the Swiss senator hotline, figuring that since the airline was responsible for checking documents they would know. The rep I spoke with said that as far as they knew, 72 hours before boarding was all that was needed.

Reading the BAG page again, it strikes me that 72 hours before boarding applies to air and bus travel. I wonder then if that 72 hours before entry rule might apply only to driving or other personal conveyance?

That would make a tad more sense. But hey, does anything make sense anymore?

Now that the holiday rush is over, I might try calling the BAG again to see if I can get an official answer.

Just got an email to upload my PCR test as I came back on Sunday. It should be ok as it was done less than 72 hours before landing. So at least in Zurich they check now. Which is strange in a way as Swiss does not allow you to board without a test?

We arrived yesterday from the U.S., via Germany (so pass control was in Germany, not Switzerland). Received a text yesterday, before we even arrived, telling us to follow the rules:

No email.

When we physically checked in for our flights, the Lufthansa agent, in addition to our passports, asked for the following: Vaccine certificate Test report (we did the 24 hour antigen) QR code proving we did the Swiss entry check

I don't think they even looked at when we got the test, or if it would be sufficient. I expect they at least checked that it was negative.

Interestingly enough, the agent did not ask for our residence permits. This seems to be hit or miss.

Off topic:

The nasal swab for the antigen test in the U.S. was much shallower than the one done here in Switzerland.

That ́s the standard SMS when your cell phone logs in into the network in Germany from the German government.

Email/SMS from the Swiss authorities came a day after getting back.

Thanks! I hadn't even noticed that was from Germany. I'm a bit jet-lagged.
