TV licence, Serafe in place of Billag

Blame the politicians and the Swiss!

The first Billag invoice I got was one of the biggest shocks to me after moving. IT's like the UK TV license on steroids

Did your first salary knock you out too?

To be fair, it did! Took me a few months before I stopped converting everything to £ and made the mental change.

Received a Billag bill

It was correct

They do the "until end of 2018" billing now. So don't be surprised.

Yes and 90% of that goes to pay these lazy fat cat bosses at Billag. The Swiss are entirely to blame!!!

hello serafe and hello Replay with compulsory advertisement. These arseholes in the advertising industry. And the arsehole politicians who do nothing!!

Lord help the geriatric nurses who work in the retirement home you end up in one day.

He'll take exit and bitch about the price and the slowness until the last second.

OK - I thought I would weigh in here as a Kiwi and say that for some stupid reason the NZ Government abolished the 'Broadcasting Fee' about 20 years ago.

Did we loose local content? - Nope Did the Ads per hour on Public TV Increase? - Yup, but not any more than the Average in the rest of the world.

However, this was a paltry NZ$ 165.00 per year ( which I never paid ) because I never owned a TV ( used a VCR and a Computer Monitor )

I believe that the NZ Government scrapped the Fee as it was costing them more to chase the non-payers than the revenue it collected

You want to angry? Try to get the length of a TV Hour back up over 40 minutes .....

I do remember the good old days of TV when a 60 min slot had 55 minutes of actual TV program and not the 39 minutes we seem to have today.

And now they want to abolish replay TV in CH with the ability to skip the ads!! Time to drop the TV over the balcony. Fortunately I only use it for SF1 and 2 and Info,CNN and Film 4 and a few other docu senders. Everything else is just shit!

Only read the first and last pages of this thread, so maybe this has been posted already:

If yes, post can be deleted.

Well if I've got to pay anyway then I may as well stop watching DVDs on a monitor and get something bigger.

Having never owned a TV in my life, what's currently in vogue?

I wonder how they will define "no equipment suitable for the reception of radio or television programme services is present or is operated in the private household. "

I imagine any household with a mobile phone, a computer, tablet, a car or otherwise will not be able to opt-out. There can't be many of those households!

But why is it now going to cost me 80 chuffs a year more for the same product?

Or maybe if my boss wants me to take the laptop home to finish stuff off, I can demand he pay my Serafe fees?

Debbie does Dallas

Bye bye Billag, hello the replacement Serafe mafia!

No idea, but looks like we won’t be paying anything.

"Who is also exempt from the fee?

Households with people who receive old-age pension or disability insurance benefits."

So every retired person on a pension does not have to pay. Can't be true!

And its not true!! Its for people who get the extra pension payments ( Ergänzungleistung ) when their pension is not enough. Such stupid false statements.
