I’m probably worrying about nothing, but am wondering where I stand should the worst happen...
I ordered a couple of monitors from Brack in their Black Friday sale. Today Die Post delivered one of them. I checked the delivery note and it definitely states two. As the postman was still around I asked him if he had the second one. He said no, just wait until Monday and see if it turns up. Seems very strange to me.
There was no option to have it sent by courier and I didn’t need to sign for the delivery. Where is the liability if the second one doesn’t turn up?
I would write a mail to Brack or just call them to inform them (they are open today) and then wait and see what happens early next week. If it doesn't turn up for a few days then Brack need to investigate with the Post. If Brack try to be a pain in the ass then hopefully you paid by credit card so you can start a chargeback claim and then Brack have to deal with your bank instead.
Thanks. Was wondering about a chargeback. I didn’t know if that was a thing in Switzerland or not, as I’ve never needed to do it in 12 years and in the U.K. it’s part of the consumer credit act rather than the CC company voluntarily offering a service. I’ll drop them an email.
Chargeback is thankfully a thing everywhere you pay with the credit card, I've done it a few times and it is a major headache reliever if things ever go pear-shaped.
Also not many people know this, but you can even use a chargeback case with the bank on Ebay/PayPal purchases and it completely bypasses the crappy and lengthy PayPal dispute system and forces Ebay to immediately start dealing with your bank to reclaim the money that the bank force-refunded to you. Needless to say, they don't put up much of a fight with a financial institution if they even suspect that you have a legitimate case for getting your money back.
If you didn't need to sign, then I think the responsibility does not lie with you. I once ordered apple earphones. The company said they were delivered, but I hadn't received anything, so they sent another pair immediately.
I had this a couple of years ago with Decathlon. I ordered a bike and some accessories. 2 packages were sent, 1 arrived - the accessories. delivery man knew nothing about package 1 of 2.
Took a while to sort, but Decathlon declared it lost and sent me another bike.
Given the amount of stock that the Fundpakete shop has, many packages go astray in Switzerland ... it's part of the Fundsachenverkauf shop, which handles lost property that's never been claimed.
There's some ... interesting stuff in the Fundpakete shop sometimes.
I guess it would be useful to have the deliveryman confirm on the delivery form that only one of the two monitors got delivered. A minimalistic signed (plus name/employee number) remark like "1 Monitor am xx.xx.xxxx geliefert" should do.
Just to close this off, the second monitor arrived today.
Same Post driver. I had to ask him if he didn't have an additional parcel from another company for me. Apparently not until I showed him the Post delivery tracking website disagreed with him and it magically appeared.
