Yeah, most of those will require a Swiss language methinks. Best bet might be the sticky thread here so you can try companies that might want English speakers.
You will gain little benefits and instead be at a whim to their demands e.g. you can't just take a vacation or leave the country without getting permission from them (and only 25 days or so a year). You'll have to be on-call, if they find something you must be reachable and must accept it (unless you have a good reason not to), they can schedule random meetings with you that you must attend. There are drawbacks, and if I didn't need to money, I wouldn't register with them (it was more of a hassle than a benefit when I was forced to use them).
They will likely not help you find a job if you're in economics. If you want to paint walls, be a server, or work in construction they may be able to help but as everyone else has mentioned, they do not look for jobs for you. The RAV is there to keep you accountable for you to continue searching for employment (by yourself) when you are unemployed, that's all.
I know there are jobs that are ok with English only I have been contacted lately with those. And I had one. Yes no doubt they are rare, but like anything else, its a numbers game haha
Its a shame that their employment agencies are very bad in in terms of delivery (Adecco...Manpower)
I will contact “universal job” agency and see what we can do.
If any of you can remember any companies that might take ENG only speaker or remember any decent job/headhunt agency... either DM me or write here.
I will be forever grateful
Im definitely looking for a starter job or just a bit higher than that (if it says “some experience is an asset”)
I even apply for internships.
Geneva: 12%
Zug: 11.5%
Basel City: 10.9%
Vaud: 8.8%
Zurich: 8.8%
I'm skeptical about the numbers. They should be normalized on the number of English jobs created/available in those cantons. Yes there's a huge English population in Geneva and Vaud, but most of them work in French or at least half-work in French.
I wouldn't bother registering with RAV in your situation, they will simply waist your time. I also wouldn't waist too much time looking for a job here if there is nothing else keeping you here, as in no girlfriend, wife, kids.....
Go back home and start your search there, save as much money as possible.
