UPC CABLECOM price increase spring 2015

You seem to have trouble understanding basic concepts.

I want SYNCHRONOUS internet, that means super high (100/100) upload speeds, which means that using a NAS or uploading large amounts of data to websites is hugely faster. Neither Cablecom or Swisscom provide that. I don't need "3 in 1", and nowhere did I post that I needed it. If I wanted cheap bundles I would stick with the Cablecom connection that I already have, and not change to the more expensive and slower (40Mbit is 3x less than Cablecoms 125Mbit) Swisscom.

Well, you're not too hot on the concepts either; synchronous doesn't mean what you think it means. Maybe what you want is SYMMETRIC internet...?

guess he means this. At over 200 CHF a month

Yeah, that's precisely what I meant. Well done, old chap. *claps slowly*

You shouldn't be paying more than 100 francs per 100Mb/s increment for symmetric access in the Swiss consumer market. There are probably better deals in the region.

Why does UPC always mention the word "glass" with "fiber" as if others use plastic fiber (toslinks) to get their data through.

Sex sells.

I'd love to get an increase like that - as that would allow me to early cancel my phone line and the horizon box, both of which I never use. I only want internet from them.

well thats the name of it. Glasfaser.

and so it is a mystery how such a large number of Romanians can afford personalized furniture and German cars especially BMW Mercedes and Audi

personal income is not as low as it looks on paper. it is a well accepted practice to undereport income so that the employees pay minimum taxes and the employer also pays minimum social contributions. reason for which the government increased the VAT to 24% and it applies to all goods to include food.

I guess their 423 euro wage goes much further than the Swiss 4000 chf wage. Its amazing how such a poor country with such inferior infrastructure can offer higher quality services for a fraction of the price.

aah okay, thats literal translation. Back in the states we used the term fiber-optic, hardly ever glass-fiber.

Does anybody also have slow speed problem with cablecom?

Most of the time with speedtest on CAT6 at midnight I never get the speed advertised.

I always get higher.

so I had a special offer in my cablecom.ch for internet 50 for 45chf a month. Previously I was using internet 20 for many years and was paying 42 chf a month.

So on March 9 2015 I clicked to upgrade to the offer and received a confirmation.

Thank you, your order is now confirmed

Your order

Internet 50 59.–

Internet 50 for CHF 45.-

Total monthly cost 45.–

A week later, March 16 2015, I received a letter informing me that my monthly costs will be going up by 3chf a month starting April DUE TO THEIR INVESTMENTS AND INCREASE OPERATING EXPENSES.

So they got me to renew my contract with a special offer and then they hit me with a price increase a week later.

I wish I was in Romania so I can sign up for fiber power 200mpb for 30chf a month. Here I get 50mps for 45chf and they hit me with a price increase a week later...

I just got that letter as well.

As I have the Cable Light combi (25.-/month), three francs a month is a 12 percent increase.

its incredible!

especially given that I upgraded to their special offer and agreed to pay 3chf more per month now they increase by an additional 3 chf a month. I feel cheated. mods please ban cablecom from this forum!

Milli-picobarn? You could just say femtobarn (fb).

The fastest download speeds are to be found in Romania at a fraction of the price

I wonder what the reason for that is? Why is their infrastructure so up to date. It costs serious money to have such a good setup.

I thought it might have had something do do with them being an east bloc country. (speculating) If they were behind west europe until the 90's, they may have played catch up and invested more quickly in more modern technology? If that were the case, I would have expected to see more east bloc countries on the list.

So whats your theory?

there has to be some incentive to stay in Romania.
