Validity of driver's license after leaving

A slight twist on the question that I could not seem to find an answer to; I want to understand the validity of a Swiss driver's license after leaving Switzerland but NOT related to validity in the new country of residence.

I left Switzerland (Zurich) around 5 years ago and was not able to exchange the license for a local one in my new country of residence (UK). I am obviously not able to drive in the UK (due to only being able to use the license for 12 months after becoming resident).

However, does the Swiss driver's license remain valid? For example, am I able to drive legally in Switzerland or France as a tourist?

If someone could point me to the language from the strassenverkehrsamt (or elsewhere) that would clarify the issue? I would be eternally grateful.

Unfortunately, my other license (from a US state) expired and I need to renew in person, so may not be able to do it for some time -- which leaves me in a position of hoping my Swiss license is still valid!

You didn’t take a driving test in the UK to get a new one?

I did not.

Well a police officer told me they have a simple check, years ago - if your license is not updated to your current residence it is not valid.

That is all I have on the subject.
