I am a student at the University of Lausanne, currently doing an internship in Zurich. When I got an offer for internship, I moved to Zurich and applied for cantonal change, however migration office refused my application for cantonal change. They said to deregister until my internship contract will finish. However, I am expecting that my internship contract will be extended for the next 6 months. Now I am planning to reregister in Vaud, as Zurich rejected the cantonal change. I was wondering how this weekly commuter thing works within Switzerland. Basically I will register in Lausanne as my main address, while also having second address in Zurich. Should I inform the Zurich kreisburo as well. I would be happy for clarification of this process. You always have to register. I just don‘t understand your living in Zurich as your move there was denied? Or am I missing something?
Hi, yes my cantonal change has been denied, meaning the migration office of Zurich did not allow me to live in Zurich, while my internship was approved by the labour office (AWA).
Now I will register in Canton of Vaud, and since two-way commuting to Zurich is around 6 hours, I will keep my current apartment in Zurich and want to become a weekly commuter. In workdays will live in Zurich, on weekends will go back to Lausanne (or just will have my main address in Lausanne and will be visiting it to grab my postal documents).
