Vegans with us for Xmas

That is correct about the maker and the process. Depending on how strict the vegan, they may wish to avoid the finings made from animal products (which are traditionally used).

I note that egg whites may now be used instead, so kosher does not always = vegan. I stand corrected.

I would get them to watch this..

Thanks for the help everyone, so if Ive got this right no quorn products either and beer and wine is also a problem

Can be a problem. Talk to your friends, see what they say. Trust me, they're used to this.

This is the Migros list for Veggie and vegan products. Thin pickings for vegans I'm afraid. (Link in German only - well probably also Fr and It - but easy to work out)

and here's the coop link. it looks like the Gehacktes Delicorn (guess that's the mince) may be vegan - it says Vegetarian whereas other say ovo-lacto-veggie

http://www.coop.ch/pb/site/common/no...Lde/index.html

Gehacktes are veggie

Geschnetzeltes are ovo lacto veggie.

I have heard they're pretty good on knowing their ingredients so worth ringing customer service

I think Jewish food laws are stricter than Muslim ones so it may be easier to source some Hallal wines & beers.

btw sorry if this is an old joke I just thought of it

Agreed, but just how do you humanely slaughter a grape ?

It might be safer to stick to homeopathic beer.

(But do be careful if following the advice given elsewhere about drinking

lots of water after a night on the beer, as that could make things worse

rather than better. )

.

veg salad all the time

All remedies true to Hahnemann are diluted with pure alchohol

Here's another solution :
