Voucher for 40CHF from Digitec

THey gave me a voucher. If I buy something with the voucher (minimum purchase 100CHF) and I send it back under garantie do I also get the 40 CHF back?

Last time I sent something back they gave me a choice of replacement or full refund. i.e. They reversed the credit card transaction. I suppose the question is if you would get a replacement voucher.

At Digitec Galaxus the customer will always be king. So to answer your question in short, most likely Yes.

Maybe, as long as the customer isn’t trying to scam them. No doubt their systems alert to this.

Mean to say they flag RIFF-RAFF?

My take: garantie depends on the manufacturer. I had a case of a broken NVMe drive and asked for a refund. The answer from Digitec was that the manufacturer’s policy is not to refund but to provide a replacement drive.
As for the voucher purchase, my understanding is that Digitec refunds the money to the same means of payment that was used at the time of the purchase. So you would get CHF 40 as voucher and the rest on your other payment method. But again, I have no experience of my own for such a case.

Yes, this is what I have experienced.

Likewise.

Of topic to this thread but I also have a broken NVMe SSD from Digitec.
It was in a Ready-built PC. Was yours, or was it a discrete part?

I’m hoping I can just send the drive back rather than the whole PC as I have already bought a replacement, but smaller drive to get the PC up and running and install the tools I needed.

Another question if I may -did you lose all the data or were you able to recover any of it? I want to try that before sending it back?

Was there anything else I should know about returning SSDs to Digitec based on your experience and how long did it take to get the replacement?

Thanks!

I had a similar issue and instead of issuing me a replacement (for RAM) they refunded me the purchase price. This was really annoying as refund was 60 Fr. and price of new RAM is 300 Fr.

The RAM was actually not working when I got it, but I thought it was the motherboard that was broken so only discovered it once I got a replacement motherboard… :man_facepalming:

NVMe has gone up in price too, as you know!

It was a discrete part.

Not going to work. How would you expect Digitec to handle such cases where customers only sent back a part of their purchse? Extreme case: I could just send back the power cable of a CHF 2000 desktop PC and claim it’s broken. They will need the full purchase.

The drive was part of a RAID1 mirror. 0% data loss

Since I live in Zurich, I brought it back in person, which saved me the hassle of packaging it. But sending should also work fine, they even provide you with a free shipping label.

I returned it to Digitec seven days ago. No replacement received so far. Again, no problem in my case, since I had another spare NVMe, so my RAID1 is fully restored. In fact, I will sell this replacement NVMe as soon as I have received it.

Data recovery services will charge you something like 1-2k, subject to details. We used OnTrack (from greater ZĂĽrich IIRC) some years ago, good service.
Just a FYI in case the data are important enough.

If your data is worth a 2K (non-assured) recovery service, you need to have reliable backups and redundancy that actually ensure you never need it.
A colleague of mine spent days transferring his classical CD collection to a NAS. Unfortunately it was a single HD model, and when the disk recently went south so did his collection, time and effort.

What to do with this voucher? I have no need of it.

if you return something bought, they will discount up to 17 CHF from the value of your …voucher

Some ideas :

  • give it back to the person who gave it to you?
  • Throw it away ? I throw away many vouchers eg coop or migros that are not relevant.

Give it to me, as thanks for the help I’ve given re Mac OS.

Don’t you need to stock up on Purina chow or kitty litter?
