**Warning ** Inter Discount** Warning**

[quote=10pixels;473896]Karl,

This will also bring Interdiscount's attitude to Canon's customers to Canon's attention.

What part does any Ombudsman/Cutomer Protection Laws play in such

instances. Should not they be brought into the picture?

and another link following the class action against canon , its a known fault in G9's

http://www.pixalo.com/community/came...bes-24025.html

I checked my G9 last night and although there was no visible dust or dirt in the lens I found some coloured lint and dust on the lens barrel when the lens was extended. I wiped it off carefully. For sure it seems to have been attracted there by static. It might pay to wipe the lens barrel before switching off the camera but then perhaps the act of doing this might make it go wrong.

This is quite strange, but useful information. I have returned goods to Interdiscount and they've exchanged them or taken them back without any problem. I also get a guarantee receipt every time I purchase any electronic item. But my electronic purchases from them have not been of a high value and I haven't purchased a camera from them.

I thought I would share a recent lovely experience of the Banhof Baden Inter discount shop.

I have an expensive AV Amp (approx 2200CHF) which has recently developed a fault and was not operating correctly. The Amp was externally in perfect condition, the fault was internal only. Having taken advice I put the unit into Interdiscount to have them look at it. Having taken 3 weeks, I got word that my unit was at the shop ready to be picked up. The report said that the unit did not satisfy swiss safety regs and therefore they would not work on it, I should return it to the manufacturer for repair. Oh and that would be CHF 80 for their trouble. I was a litle peeved by this, but on returning home after a couple of days I opened the box to see the amp had been dropped, the top was dented and the connectors and panels on the back all bent and buckled in.

Having very corteously remonstrated with them, Interdiscount quite rudely accuse me of doing this damage and are denying any responsibility whatsoever. Its my word against theirs and I doubt I can do anything about it.

I would advise anyone here against using this service and Interdiscount in general as they have not exactly covered themselves in glory anytime I have given them my patronage.

Go to digitec instead!

Rant over.

I think there was a recent post along similar lines with them. Do a search. You may find it helpful

awww shucks! Glad I could help...

Lynn don't be calling Karl a dwarf

great news Karl that you finally got the service owed in the beginning - nice one Lynn

I can't complain about Interdiscount at all. I took a toaster back there for repair a few months ago, it was still under warranty but they gave me a full refund.

About two weeks ago I took my iron back, it was a Braun, still under warranty. It stopped getting hot. They looked at it carefully, and noted the condition on the repair ticket(like new), which I had to sign. Yesterday I received a notice in the post that it was ready and when I went to pick it up today, I found out that they replaced it with a new one, and a better model since they don't carry the one I had any more.

So I don't see the need for a warning. Maybe you just need to learn how to complain better. I get 100% satisfaction...regardless of the shop.

My dear Mrs Doolittle, im sure that if you had read the thread fully, you would have understood, three things. 1, that my complaint was fully justified, 2. the eventual complaint was resolved after several months of wrangling. 3. I also eventually got 100% satisfaction.

Maybe you should learn to read the thread better before posting pointless comments about a subject which has long since closed.

Thankyou ...

The amusing thing is that you are comparing a toaster and an iron to expensive camera equipment, which has with is another completely different ball game when it comes to warranty and repairs.

Your original post was like this: " I d just like to post a warning to all of you who considered purchasing electrical good s from Inter Discount .... Inter Discount do not , i repeat DO NOT guarantee the products sold in there stores. Shop there with utmost caution."

When you start your rant with a very broad statement like this, I have every right to post and tell anyone out there who is reading this forum that I have had perfectly acceptable service from Interdiscount. I don't need you to lecture me on how to read or a lesson on how to post. A lot of people who find this forum may only find your first post on this subject and don't have time to read all the posts and I think your initial post is very misleading.

EF has a crappy reputation for publishing a lot of BS...this is a classic example.

Find me a forum that hasn't.

I wasn't making any comparison about the items. I was talking about warranty service from Interdiscount. End of story. The OP was warning everyone not to shop there.

Done.

He was obviously heated up and upset about the situation... hence we exagerrate things a bit sometimes. Understandable, given the situation.

I meant a forum, not a piddly little message board frequented by three people and a cat.

Who are you to judge? It's not an open forum so you can't even read what is there. But don't bother applying to join, I am the owner and moderator.

And if that forum has helped three people and a cat, what is wrong with that?

I better get back to my "piddly little message board". Meow.
