Any type of Schwingerfest in Switzerland.
After living in Munich for a few years, I can recommend a less touristy aspect of the Oktoberfest which is fun, the Trachtenumzug, where you can spot about every traditional dress from around Germany and a few from other European countries, mostly you will meet the locals there. The smaller Oktoberfest type events like the Starkbierfest http://www.nockherberg.com/en/starkbierfest_termin.html and the Auer Dult three times a year http://www.auerdult.de/termine/ are also good. Many Bavarians actually dress in lederhosen and dirndl to go to church or to weddings (and said events), they don't put them on for the tourists. And they love their beer. What beer is brewed for what holiday used to be taught at primary school.
