What are you currently reading?

Some books about Geneva, about electro-gardening, about healing.

and a book about how to meet girls....

Just finished an absolutely wonderful re-telling of the Canterbury Tales by Peter Ackroyd. It's a very faithful updating of the original, and he has kept all of the spirit (and obscenity!). Delightful stuff!

Before that I read The War of the Worlds. It's unfortunate that I have to live near the lake, as I jump a mile every time I hear the boat horns and find myself looking up between the houses for signs of approaching tripods.

It's probably the drugs. Perhaps.

You think you have it bad. I expect a V2 rocket to drop everytime I get friendly with a lady friend.

Im currently reading this thread

What?!?

Keep meaning to read that.......the guy comes from very near where I used to live in the UK. Not sure that is something I should admit either

Just finished reading Princess of Mars, by Edgar Rice Burroughs ... am working through a bunch of free eBooks, choosing to only download the Project Gutenberg ones since I trust them ...

'The Crying of Lot 49' by Thomas Pynchon and 'The City of Falling Angels' by John Berendt.

The first one is dark humour you need to acquire a taste for (if you don't readily have it). The second is a lovely read.

The girl with the Dragon Tattoo- Stieg Larsson

& Linger - Maggie Stiefvater ...Don;t ask

"The Girl who Kicked the Hornets' Nest" - Stieg Larsson

Can highly recommend two of my all time favorites:

Beneath a Marble Sky

A Fine Balance - this one will stay with me forever. Characters are amazing.

The Financial Times,... not a big book reader these days, but I have to say I bought the Kindle to my wife and this little thing is soooo cooollll! took note of your recommendations and might give a try in the Kindle soon. Cheers

As I mentioned, you can fill your memory with a heap of free books if you search for Project Gutenberg ... they're scanning and offering free downloads of books that have passed beyond copyright ... including some fantastic sci-fi classics!

Just finished The Lost Continent (another Edgar Rice Burroughs) the other day ... fantastic!

I recommend the 'meaning of night' by Michael Cox exceptionally good

all the Shardlake books are great light reading

and I need a new book...

am desperate...

I am reading When you are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris. It's pretty good, at times laugh out loud funny, sometimes, eh,.

a 1904 page suicide note.

Bought a Kindle recently, and reading "Hard Times", one of those Dickens novels I passed over as a kid.

Love the Kindle, and am greatly enjoying the book.

I am reading the shipping news...oldie but won some awards. The trilogy from Stieg Larson are amazing and I recommend!

I am now reading 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett and am enjoying every page of it. The other books in my basket are the 'Four Hour Work Week' and 'The Autobiography of a Yogi'.

Not sure if this fits with the discussion, but there is a really nice website called www.goodreads.com . This helps keep track of books you read, books you want to read, reviews etc. Cheers.

"A Splendid Exchange: How Trade Shaped the World" by William J. Bernstein

David Sedaris is one of my favorite writers. Me Talk Pretty One Day always makes me laugh out loud... There are some brilliant stories about his life in France, which are even funnier if you are an expat anywhere who doesn't speak the local language.
