Am I missing something here? The rate has been at or about 1.16 for the last few days and before that it was the GBP that took a pounding against the CHF (well, down from around 1.22)?
What I couldn’t figure out was whether the pound was getting weaker or chf stronger or both and if there was one significant factor on either side for such a sudden shift
Ive converted a huge stack of CHF into GBP. Will exchange back when (hopefully!) the GBP bounces back. I did this during the covid drop and made a nice little bonus out of it :-)
Brexit quite possibly has had an effect but Boris ?
I don't think Boris really has the capacity to harm the economy as much as you think, he is already factored in as a rather insignificant influence on the markets.
It's more down to poor management a Bank of England (Bailey is useless), over taxation and a delay in increasing rates making the UK look very un investable right now.
Interesting comment. However, Johnson is seen as a total disaster by the whole world, and the fact that there seems to be no-one of the right calibre and who has not been 100% behind his lies and dishonesty to replace him- surely is not helping!
