What if unemployed? Any benefits?

No unemployment benefits beyond age 65 for men.

The RAV officers are professionally networked with the agencies and HR departments. Switzerland is a small country and everybody knows everybody.

No CEO would dream of going to the RAV. The benefits are capped at 70% or 80% of maximum ca 9k. Also CEO's walk off with large severance compensation, which must be used up before unemployment benefits are entitled.

Hello,

Reusing this thread.

My situation: I worked 5 years in the UK then was out 1 year without a job.

Landed a job here in Zürich in June 2010 and it looks like my team will get axed.

Speaking with the big boss, he suggested I looked externally.

Hence I think I have say 3 months here plus another 3 months notice period.

I read that I need to contribute 12 months in the last 2 years but they can take your contribution from abroad.

I contributed 5.5 years in the last 6.5 years with that year gap.

Am I still entitled to something?

If not, are there some private redundancy insurance? I cannot seem to find them on google.

Thx

You need to document every effort you made with a detailed description of position, company name and address and the contact person with telephone number and email.

Does anyone know what the upper limits for RAV payment are?

i.e. they won't pay you 70% of CHF1000000 will they?

I am currently dealing with the RAV here and they have been very helpful although they dont speak english and as I dont speak german it is a little difficult!

I was only working for 11 months so they can not help me until I get the form from the UK tax office to show tax contributions there and then they may be able to help me. In the meantime I have had to speak to socialhilfe as they may be able to help in the meantime so fingers crossed!

I am actually looking for some help with this at the moment if anyone can speak german and has some free time

Think the upper limit is 70% (or 80% with children) of 10500 CHF per month

You can play with this presentation here, in German, but page 8 is to calculate
