What's your experience with digitec.ch?

I always hear that complaint for digitec, so when my Garmin watch went a little haywire sometime last August, I got in touch with Garmin directly. Printed a form I found online, put it in a box with my watch, and sent it to an address the form was pointing at. A week later I had a brand new watch, no hassle, no worries, no problem.

So cut the middle man, and go directly to the source. Every warranty experience I've had with shops and not the manufacturer/importer directly, was crap. So I try to avoid them every time.

I used digitec a lot but since Migros takeover it is terrible I avoid them now in favour of Brack.ch

Bad experience include buying new products and getting used ones or already oppened boxes.

Having problem with warranty, I used to buy a lot of devices there to build test systems and sometimes I would get a mobile phone with scratches already since the phones were test systems I didnt care much but come-on

I still use Digitec... not noticed any difference since they were taken over and order cancellations are still processed as usual. I don't think it's gone as downhill as people are trying to make out, considering it was never perfect even before the Migros takeover.

If our regular supplier does not have certain items in stock(IT) we may tend to buy them from Digitec, no major issues encountered so far

I'm surprised they're better value for you than buying locally in Singapore.

Ha, made this account three years ago when moving from Singapore to Switzerland, never changed my location No need anymore, as I am moving back again next month

1 post per year average, I think that's the lowest for a currently active member.

Probably, more of a lurker myself.

Well, to be bluntly honest, you need 4 more posts before you can sell something? ;-)

Is it that obvious Well, I'm trying to write more meaningful posts, will try the leaving Switzerland forum, as I'm going through the process myself, so might be able to help out.

Just so you know you're not alone, I too am a lurker who is now being reminded to post. I hope that your leave goes smoothly and you find some things in Leaving Switzerland to share!

Back on topic,

I have never had any issues with Digitec. It 5 mins down the road so I tend to pick up as its quicker.

I didnt even know it had been taken over

Does anyone know what happens when you order something at Digitec for collection in-store, and then decide to cancel the transaction before going to pick it up? Is there any penalty?

I will email Digitec to ask, but just wondering if anyone else had experience with it.

No penalty, or there certainly never used to be. I often pre order items for pickup but cancel them if another store gets the items in stock first.

Ok cool, thanks!

Wrong. See Terms and condition Section 10 and 11

There meight be a cancelation and restoking fee of at least CHF 60 or up to 20% of the products value (whatever is larger).

Under certain circumstances the restocking fee is only 10% or even fully waived.

Most importantly the product must have been on stock at order time.

Frequent buyer with digitec/galaxus and never had a problem. I did not see any difference after takeover as well.

I have purchased many items from Digitec. No problems.

Always delivered on time and I like their payment options.

Mostly they tend to be cheaper than Media Market or Interdiscount.

Nice website also.

I bought ALL my electronics since I came to Switzerland in digitec.ch and never had a single problem. I've returned stuff and I've brought them to repair and the experience has always been perfect.
