When should I pay the difference after filing the taxes?

I have some very basic question (sorry if it has been answered before. I tried to search to find out if this question was asked before, didn't/couldn't find a thread on that).

I finished filing my taxes in VD using the software provided by the canton. It turns out that I owe some extra to pay. The question are:

When should I make the payment? Should I wait for the tax authorities to get back to me or should I make the payment within a certain, specific deadline even before any communication from them? Should I pay all at once? How should I proceed if I want to split it into a few payments?
