Would you book the flight now or wait a bit to see if there is any COVID evolution? To avoid surprise like if Canada closes its boarder if there is COVID case surge

I wish to take the whole December off for holiday and for the moment think about going to Vancouver.
This is of course, just my opinion, but I think I would book it as soon as possible in order to hopefully get a decent price and also because December is the holiday season and a lot of people will probably be traveling and so some of the cheaper and better flights might become quickly booked up.
Just make sure that your ticket is refundable or changeable when you book it so that if borders are closed at the time of your flight, you won't have any problems getting a refund or a voucher for a different flight in the future.
Depends where in Canada. I’d avoid Alberta for the time being, but BC looks OK and they have a certificate requirement. Ontario and Quebec are improving as well.
The airlines are ramping up their flight schedules so I’d wait a week or two before I booked. But don’t expect ultra low prices. It’s going to be expensive for a while.

No worries. Start looking and comparing schedules and prices by the direct airlines. Lufthansa via Munich and Frankfurt; KLM via Amsterdam; Air France via Paris. Air Canada’s going to want to push you via Montreal or Toronto, or even worse via both! If you can get a more direct flight then good.

Airlines seem to have got a grip on the situation now, regarding flexibility, changes and refunds. Just check their policy etc before booking then book asap. If you are staying in hotels etc, make sure they are cancellable.
Canada is a big place! East, West? Might have more trouble getting a rental.
Actually they’re beginning to drop that flexibility again. Read the other day that Swiss are planning in that direction. Ryanair already have.
If they cancel a flight, as a minimum, they are required to give you a full refund. They can (but not all airlines do) offer you a rebooking or a rerouting that is acceptable to you. If you don’t like it you can still opt for the full refund.
If YOU decide not to travel then the refund provisions of the fare, at the time of purchase, will apply. (Do yourself a favour, do screen prints of these terms when you make the purchase)
Regarding vouchers. They cannot be imposed on you, you have to agree to accept them. I advise against it. Much better to get your money back.
