Where can I snowboard?

I know, I know, it's summer... but I'm getting excited about winter and planning ahead (also I'm really quiet at work today...)

I will be moving to Bellinzona next week, and thinking ahead to winter, I'd like to hear some recommendations of where I can take day trips to go snowboarding.

Last winter, I spent a glorious two weeks in Grindelwald, however this winter I would prefer to do more day trips than one big (and expensive) holiday.

I have looked at Google maps and googled 'ski fields / resorts', but thought I'd also ask here for recommendations. For reference, a day trip is what I would consider to be within 90 minutes travel time (train or driving) from Bellinzona.

Thanks folks!

Andermatt?

Are you driving or taking the train? SBB has snow-and-rail tickets which include train travel to the ski area + the ski pass.

One the winter starts, you can see the destinations and prices here:

Andermatt is a very good idea. Also maybe other places close to Göschenen (but Andermatt is the biggest).

But there are also options in Ticino. I would also try them.

There is skiing in Ticino?

I would have thought it was too warm there due to the sun permanently shining out of Tom’s backside.

All summer glaciers are currently closed. Usually there's Stelvio (near Bormio/Val Müstair), Schnals in South Tirol, Zermatt in western Switzerland, Sulden in Austria. At te moment, only Langgraff (a ski hall) in the Netherlands is open.

Yes. Lara Gut-Behrami is ticinese

Just kidding. But yes, there are some slopes in Ticino

I’ve not been but a friend of mine really rates Airolo. At 45 mins from Bellinzona it’s got to be worth a shot for a day trip.
