Where to buy rubber vibration damping feet/mat for table/3D printer?

Hi guys. I am receiving a 3D printer with high printing speeds in the next few days and I want to buy the following things to reduce vibration transmission through the table to the floor under it:

4x flat rubber discs (ideally around 6-7cm diameter each and 0.5-1cm thick) to go under the feel of the table that will be holding the 3D printer. A rubber mat approximately 45-50cm square to go directly under the 3D printer.

I did some Googling but I can't find anything online in Swiss stores and I don't want to order from China. Does anyone please know where the best place to get stuff like that would be?

EDIT - for practical advice, would a yoga mat do the trick, or maybe two in a stack?

For similar, I just had a look around at Obi until I found something suitable.

Definitely you can get circular rubber pieces.

I second going to the DIY warehouses. Hornbach is my one of choice.

Here’s a rubber mat, as an example. It’s a bit big:

Some of them could be made in China, but it looks like amazon.de has quite a few anti-vibration mats, many of which are 60 x 60 cm. But there are many other sizes, too, including sets of small, round “feet” that are used for that purpose.

Amazon.de offers free delivery now to CH as long as the total order is either 29 or 39 CHF or more (can’t remember) and the items ship from Amazon’s Germany warehouse.

As others have said, Hornbach has plenty of options - I suggest looking in the bathroom area as they have some things that are intended to put under washing machines, dishwashers etc....

I bought a set of those but the Miele man told me not to bother.

It might be what you need. I bought them locally but now they are sitting in a box.

High end speaker stands often use gel pads to reduce vibration and thus sound distortion. I’m sure you would be able to get these from any high end hi fi shop

The problem is speaker isolation stands are generally too small for the table feet, which are plastic and around 6cm in diameter.

Another option might be the rubber tiles used in playgrounds which you could place on the floor. (Fallschutzmattten). They are quite thick.

I've used thin cork matts successfully - been able to buy them easily online plus frequently see them in the Jumbo and/or Hornbach - specifically made to go under washing machines to dampen vibrations?

Oh, and I haven't yet checked amazon.de BUT I know that amazon UK and amazon france now have a "made in" checkbox on the left side of their search lists, right down the bottom, and VERY useful to start avoiding certain countries...

In addition to the mat that is used under washing machines (Hornbach/Obi) for CHF 10.- there is another idea that might work.

Hornbach sells black rubber mats that you would have at the entrance of a house/building. They come in several sizes (look in the section where they sell carpets on rolls). This might work better/worse than the washing machine version, since it will have some more “give” than the solid washing machine version. It will probably be too big for the printer, but if needed you can easily cut it down with a cutter knife.

The only big decision is that Obi and Hornbach seem so far away from each other that I have to decide which one that I to go to on an afternoon instead of browsing both.

You have all three options at Hornbach so I would go there. Good luck.

Keep in mind, the foot mat and washing machine pad together will be about the same cost of the fall protection mat (depending on the thickness you chose as shown on the web page). I personally would go with the two pads vs the fall protection mat option.

I actually just realized that if I cut the 60x60 mat down to 50x50 then I can use the cutoffs for under the table feet, killing two birds with one stone. I think I will first buy the mat from Jumbo (its much closer at Letzipark so I also don't need an extra ticket for my Zone10 pass) and experiment.

The fall protection mats are made of glued together pieces of rubber. Original this used to be made out of shredded tyres, I am not sure if it is still made like that, but it is quite heavy and compact. Maybe not that good for fine vibrations, but frankly, I don't know much about it.

Hi guys. In the end I bought the one form Jumbo and cut it to size in a way that can only be described as "haphazard", heh. Still, it seems to do the job at reducing vibrations of my 3D printer and I now just need to worry about making my desk as stable as it can be!
