I don’t know if it’s against the rules to mention the name but I’ve used an online site for language lessons/practice. It can be extremely cheap because sometimes they will be a German speaker living in some very low cost country on the other side of the world or whatever.
But I figure there may be some maybe young people in Switzerland who would pick up language lessons as a side gig, if I prefer to meet IRL? I really don’t need someone with teaching experience, I just need a native speaker that has patience to let me talk at them, and ask questions. They don’t even need to listen that carefully to catch my mistakes— Most of the time I will notice my own uncertainty and will just ask them.
Does it make sense? I don’t need some high priced person who knows how to explain grammar and stuff. Just need a human native speaker who I can use as a more reliable, efficient, and comprehensive source-of-truth on the language.
I will check Inserat boards and stuff but I don’t know. In the US one would find such a thing on craigslist.
Would it not be cheaper and way more effective just to simply watch TV, listen to the wireless and go out and meet people instead of trying to learn from somebody who may or may not know what they are talking about?
It might be worth looking into Meet Up. I'm not sure where you're located but here in Basel, they have regular (weekly) get togethers to simply have conversations in German.
