I need to regularily ship packages of around 5kg to the US , trackable and guaranteed delivery. May I ask, who you all use, as my experiences haven't been great so far.
Swiss Post can only track a package to the border, after that it's in the USPS hands and tracking becomes problematic. Delivery time is also not guaranteed - could be 8 days, could be two months.
UPS is less expensive than other carriers, but the two day guaranteed delivery turned out to be 8 days.
DHL and Fedex are about 4 times more expensive, but are they worth it? In your experience do they actually get packages to the US, through customs, and to the recipient on time as promised?
I have found UPS to be the best. Then again I do not ship anything that would require a guaranteed two days. The only time I have had to ship something that timely, I paid the exorbitant price to Fedex.
I think you have found the only options. You just have to decide what is most important to you.
I would concur with the others. Delivery times can be flexible for any carrier.
I use UPS regularly to the U.S. because it is cheaper and the paperwork (online) is more straightforward than other carriers.
Swiss Post for smaller, lower cost items but it it worrying when your parcel disappears into the ether without tracking, until it arrives.
UPS do seem to lose parcels on a regular basis but do refund promptly if you take out the extra insurance for a few francs (depending on the value of the goods).
Also, UPS, followed by Swisspost for the packages that we have sent. Unfortunately, unless you hire a private courier, these are likely your best solutions.
