Why do people drain washing machine water onto floor after use?

The only time I know of our filter being cleaned was when the washing machine stopped working mid cycle. After the repairman had been he left a soggy shredded pair of black lacy panties on the laundry room floor. No, they weren't mine.

People do remove the filter and put it in the soap dish to prove it has been cleaned! They should then also mop the floor, usually in the rules.

This is really annoying if done after every wash as in a short time the rubber seal is broken and the machine drips constantly. Cleaning the drain / filter once per month is often enough.

I have, obviously, cleaned my fluff out of the dryer filter. But never have i had to clean the above sort of filter out ever. The drawer thing yes.

But, the last time i did a wash, i was walking around in puddles. So i presume someone tried to clean out that filter and failed. Machine worked ok.

Nothing on the instructions of how to leave the washing room proper says to clean out that filter. The machine is on a concrete block.

People in my apartment building do the same, also leaving water in the laundry room.

I often feel too lazy to do so and pee on the floor so that it looks like I've cleaned the washing machine.

While I agree that the filter shouldn't need cleaning every time in normal use (my machine at home got cleaned maybe once a year, if I remembered...) I have two hairy dogs so it seems only fair on my neighbours to scrape the fur out of the shared machines

Just go Swiss and leave an anonymous aggressive note complaining about draining the machine without mopping up.

I really appreciate that my neighbors (and I) rinse the soap dish after use of the washing machine and leave it upside down on the washing machine. This prevents my loads getting contaminated with whatever detergent was used in the previous load.

People can be allergic to certain detergents, but there is also the possibility that they have special clothes which they can only wash with a certain type of detergent. E.g. dark jeans: I always use liquid detergent so as to prevent washing powder staying inside the fibers and turning black clothes gray and navy ones a lighter blue. Now, if the person who washed before me used washing powder and didn't wash the soap tray, I'd possibly wash my clothes with traces of their powder and ruin them.

Fabric softener is also something I don't want on my clothes so I'm happy when I start washing with a clean soap dish. Of course, the soap dish gets rinsed just as thoroughly when I'm done washing so that the next neighbor also has a clean start at his laundry washing.

Leaving the door of the washing machine open, the drawer pulled out and the soap dish on top of the machine also prevents the buildup of mold, which isn't something I'd want in my laundry.

they might be doing that just because they don't check their clothes before wash and they think that something like a earing or whatever might be going into the washing machine. usually the last possible place to find it is in the filter.

whatever reason they might have to do it, they should just clean the floor after, it's a lot of water.

Hello There

This is normal, you have to clean the filter of the Washing Machine after every wash (often mentioned in the house or washroom rules ) some do it every time some less frequent. usually there is a drain in the floor where the water is supposedly to be pushed in. If this is not available the users should clean the mess up ! Or thats how the Swiss see it. ( im myself a Swiss )
