Withdrawing Pillar 3 after leaving Switzerland - proof unmarried

I'm having some difficulty being able to close my Pillar 3 account after leaving Switzerland to return to the UK.

The current blocker is being able to proof that I'm not married. The bank says that I need to find a way to prove this from the UK and to contact a notary, but the only official document seems to be a NCI (Certificate of No Impediment), which the local registry office told me is only available if you're planning to get married, and when I spoke to a notary they said that I need the bank to tell them exactly what documents to certify, and my bank contact didn't know what the equivalent UK documents would be. Has anyone done this and knows what statements would be acceptable? Is it enough just to write a letter stating I'm unmarried, get that notarised, does it need witnesses, or identity verification?

When my son got married he had to prove he was unmarried. He just made an affidavit which was witnessed by a British Embassy official.
