Woman walking agressive dog off-lead

Better yet, explain how you are suffering when it's not?

100 dogs go to field off leash.

1 dog attacks.

Sorry other 99, you are all the same.

Anyone else getting the feeling of deja vu?

Don't do this.

A dog running towards your dog and barking does not mean it is attacking.

If your dog squeals, it does not mean the other dog is attacking.

Basically unless you are absolutely sure your dog is being attacked do not hit anything with a stick.

indeed ^

and you may also find out that letting your dog off the leash can diffuse the situation - not every time mind you.........there is no blanket rule.

you can't go lashing out before something happens because that will simply put you in the wrong.

When the little fecker runs up to me, aggressive or not, making me fall off my bike (or almost). I don't even have to be going very fast to be undone by the unpredictability of the said canine.

blame the owner not the dog.

Was I actually blaming the dog? I'm always more angry with the owner when it happens. The dog can't help it, it's just a dumb animal.

Which is why I think all dogs should be on a lead in public shared areas.

So every dog does this?

There's enough walkers who have the same gripe with cyclists, not stopping at crossings, making me move to the side so they can ride past me on a path when there is a road with nice yellow paint markings for you to use, whizzing round corners not thinking about what might be coming the other way. We learn to coexist, because it is a rare event, and only some cyclists are ignorant twats. Same as only some owners and some dogs are irresponsible/badly trained or in the process of training.

So when I want to let my dog have a run, chase a ball I have thrown to bring back to me, sit at one end of a field until I shout the command as I look to improve our bond, give him some exercise, keep on top of training as well as mental stimulation, I am not going to not do this because someone else is a douche with their dog. He has not done anything wrong, same as you haven't done anything wrong on your bike Paddy.

Did you know that all drivers speed and complain when they get speeding fines??

That everything in the world ever was invented in Yorkshire??

That you can live off 120k CHF per year?

Yes, but there are penalties in place for irresponsible cyclists who flaunt the laws. The owner of a dog running across my path at the last minute will suffer no consequences, unless I manage to run the little bastard over, of course.

And in other news.

The Pope is Catholic

A Bear is found pooping in the woods.

There are for dogs and owners too when reported.

At least the dog, owner, and location they frequent is easily identified if reluctant to hand details.

A pedestrian often does not have that privilege of identifying the lyrcra clad Peter Sagan wannabe whilst jumping back onto the curb after realising the bike is not following the same rules as the car. Of course, I could let him crash into me, injure myself, and hopefully not be too badly injured to stamp on his head when I pull myself together but that might be bit extreme.

Further updates:

What speeding fine can I expect for going 18kmh over the limit on a motorway?

Report this woman to the police. The laws here are very strict on dog ownership and the police will take action if the laws have been broken. Don’t risk another owner having to face the same situation. If it’s that aggressive they may already have information on her and her dog, there may even been some sort of court order against her.

Can I phone a friend?

Urgh I know this is annoying when it happens. Personally I think you need to calm down. Get your dog checked out if you think you need to and if you come across this woman again speak to her in person rather than attacking her dog with pepper spray/taser You don't know the history of the dogs previous welfare. The woman was probably letting the dog let some steam off and unfortunately it did not recall. It happens. Hopefully she has learnt from this and she has the dog on the lead again like you said she has before.

My dogs are well trained and 99 % would come back once recalled but there are times for what ever reason they smell something and it doesn't happen. It happens they are dogs. And we are people and we are also not perfect.

If it was to happen again obviously there is a problem but you have said she's had them on the lead before.
