You want us to delete all threads which don't answer the question and don't add value??? If so, we'd be a forum about Switzerland with no posters, no threads and no content - and there is already one of those around (see what I did there? )
In terms of some bad language, maybe i missed it - can you report it please?
Posting is like a conversation.... it can lead in different directions, I personally dont see the harm in it.
..... Dogs. Just keeping it on topic!
a) Dangerous wasn't the best choice of words.
b) Dogs are dogs, and kids are kids..... you're absolutely right, so there is no chance of preventing unpredictable behaviour.
Both parents and dog owners should be prepared, and have to respect each other or else the whole thing doesn't work.
If you were unaware your foot was on the dog and kept it there, I would expect it to nip.... much like when a bee stings.
If it was an accident, most dogs just yelp and pull back..... but I guess this would depend largely on the nature of the dog (aggressive, or anxious dog maybe.... a normal dog would behave as I indicated above).
Just try not to stand on a dog's foot I guess.
You miss Melloncollie don't you?
One post... BOOM !!! - there's your answer.
Where the hell is she?
Normally she's onto these topics like this like a fat kid on a smarty.
From here .
Also you stated in your first post that you should shoot the dog before it gets near your dog. I suppose you must be some kind of expert to know that the dog is going to attack?
And Googling "Ammonia as dog defense" brings up the rantings of people who seem to have no veterinary qualifications such as yourself.
I've an idea - get yourself a video camera, ready your solution and film yourself applying it to your eyes. Come back and share your findings with us.
Or
Shall we create a thread talking about the latest 6 cylinder, turbo, super charger, 4x4 supercar?
or
Will you do what I do with the car threads?
If I take me CAT for a walk, can I let it off the leash?
I don't really care about dogs. I don't love them and I don't hate them, but the picture really makes me thinking. Maybe some of you have a shit load of sheep at home or this text is currently read to you by your browser, but for by far the most dog owners the dog is just a companion and a source of entertainment. This is socially accepted for historic reasons, but is it really species-appropriate to keep them in a flat and take them for a walk twice (trice?) a day? This is not a rhetoric question. I really don't know.
Let's assume for the moment that all animals are to some degree unpredictable and may react badly to some external stimuli, be it from a car, another dog, a child or whatever. Why take the chance that humans are hurt? Would it really be that much of a constraint for the life of the dog if it was only allowed to walk freely in a designated area? Is the "keep always on the lead"-rule really the 'red line' where a dog can not be held species-appropriate any more?
Sincerely,
Your 'I don't know anything about dogs' 11Hours
This is insanity! Everyone knows that the only correct way to enjoy your Chicago-style dog is hot and with mustard! Ketchup, Tabasco or Ammonia (???) are completely unacceptable!
I still remember, it was in about 2003, when I went to the nearby commercial post office. Just before the road I saw TWO persons, one a very nice and cute small dog, the other one a very nervous chap, jumping up and down and yelling commands the dog simply ignored. The dog then came to me, I talked to him and took him to the side of the road. We waited and then WE crossed the road. I told him to sit so that I could empty the POB, then two meters beside, the dog was sitting beside me and I sorted the rubbish. I then went to the counter where the postal employee enquired is this your dog and I replied no no he belongs to that nervours chap accross the road THeeere who cannot have even one foot on the ground and the postman looked over and started laughing. I then went to the road, accross the road and told the dog that nervous chap there is your temporary boss, you now have to join him, goodbye and he nicely joined the friend of his owner-lady accordingly
