Work Permit Type B

21.07.2005 - 21.07.2007 Type L (Z-Code 2001)

22.07.2007 - Now Type B (Z-Code 1406) (Last Renewal)

The Old Permit was an L and it was upgraded to B after 2 years as per swiss law.

I know the situation. One lady in the Zurich Migrationsamt told me the same thing. But since the people in Luzern had already agreed, she agreed too.

And yes, an enquiry from your employer can work better than you making the enquiry yourself.

This happened to me also. I called Abreitsamt . The lady was really nice. she spent a lot of time to load my file. After that she read just my work permit. She read "Bewilligung ist an bewilligten Einsatz gebunden." from the letter of Abeitsamt and also the "Sellenwechsel ist nicht moglich" from stellenantritt , she concluded that I can't change my job...

It depends more on the level on undestanding of the new law. I am no expert on this, but I would suggest getting a company HR person to make the enquiry in migrationsamt, clearly citing the new law as the base of the enquiry.

The people at the lower levels (who initially take the calls at migrationsamt) sometimes do not know much detail. In most cases, they will not pass you on to higher-ups since the higher-ups do not like speaking to each and everyone who calls. However, company HRs and like have a better chance of getting through and getting better answers from people who know the case in more detail.

Best of luck. Hope everything works out for the best.

Hey,

There seems to be a distinction between a (non-EU) "ordinary" B-permit, and a "project-based" B-permit. Is there any way to determine which type of permit I have ?

cheers,

(Mr)Wibble

Ask the people that issued it?

"My next test is to find out if my spouse can get a job given we are told that she now can work as the spoude of a B-permit since 1.1.08.

I presume most employers will not be familiar with the changes." by SwissLH

I had similar experience as you mentioned in the last line, Since I am a non -EU with a B Residence Permit, as a result of my spouse's B- Work Permit, I was told by my recruiters that since I did not have a B work permit, they were not willing to consider my application, also I was applying for jobs with different Canton, different from where my B permit was issued.

I sent a mail to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) seeking clarification and they confirmed that under the new law I was eligible to take up employment and there was no restriction. I used this mail as an attachment to my resume and it did work. I found a job and also it is in a different canton.

I hope this info helps!

I Confirm that too.. I never heard of such law since 1-1-08 but my wife worked on a time-limited contract on her actual resident permit without changing anything even last year...

Any other answer than that. I would like to know too what kind of permit, I have. Frankly speaking, before reading this forum, I never knew that there are project linked B permits and other B permits and about z-code 1406 or whatever.. All I knew that there are 2 types of B permits (long term for 5 years and short terms for 1-2 years, depending on EU and NON-EU).

Anything that I can read from my B-permit to detemine?
