Working beyond 65

I would say that a high percentage of people on this forum have no problem with money after retirement, but it is the exception that makes the rule. For the majority money IS the problem.

I think the relatively high salaries in Switzerland combined with the social security provides for a decent living (although increasing costs might hamper that a bit).

Salaries are not relatively high versus shop prices

Update.

I had a word with OH last night and told him not to just walk away and let this drop. He’s been in contact with someone from the employee council who has told him to put everything in writing as a timeline and it’ll be referred up for consideration. He’s asked about the grievance procedure.

It now sounds as if his line manager missed a deadline relating to all this, everything official should have been submitted by 31st Jan and that point his LM was handling all the paperwork for annual team assessments. He didn’t get a meeting with his LM until mid February.

The other manager who supported his retirement deferral has told him he wasn’t even aware that certain meetings had even taken place (so now OH is not sure they did, he no longer knows what to believe).

Unfortunately as his LM was handing everything verbally there’s no paperwork beyond a statement his LM wrote in German for his B Permit renewal, saying a retirement deferral had been approved, but this isn’t recorded as having been written on his behalf.

He stopped work at 3pm this afternoon and is taking tomorrow off. Last night he came home early from his weekly night out as 2 of the guys are with another team in the company and he can’t handle them asking what’s happening with his job.

We’re not holding out much hope but it feels better to be proactive.
