Would open B permit of non-EU get downgraded?

Normally non-EU needs to renew the B permit every year despite it is open.

My question is:

If a non-EU with open B permit wants to take an offer for a 'fixed-term' position, for example 18 months contract, will the open B be downgraded to close B permit or even a L permit when renewing the permit?

Thanks

Once a permit is open , it becomes independent of an employer. So, as long as you have means of subsistence you should be OK to renew your permit. Once open I guess it's even a tad bit easier to be self employed. Authorities are not trigger happy when it comes to downgrading a permit as even that requires work and reasonable justification.

Really? I heard it's necessary to have an on-going contract while renewing it. For example, if I don't have a job when I have to renew it, it won't be renewed and I need to leave the country.

By your logic it would mean that any/every Non EU's B permit would get downgraded as soon as (s)he loses their job !

RAV becomes your employer provided you meet certain conditions like contributions done and number of years in CH etc.

I am simply saying having a Fixed Term contract as you originally asked has a better chance for getting your permit renewed (and not degraded) as opposed to being unemployed.

Thanks for the reply.

But that was not my logic. At least for open B, the status of the (un)employment 'when renewing the permit' is the key. One can lose the job and find another one before the renewal, which means: 'during renewal of open B permit', if there is no on-going contract, the B permit can not be renewed.

And my question is:

during renewal of open B permit, if the contract is fixed-term, will the open B permit be downgraded to close B or L?

Normally open B is firstly granted only if the contract is permanent one. That's why I am wondering, if I changed to a new job but with fixed contract, will open B be downgraded to close B during next renewal.
