Yet again - dogs in cars.

Can the owners rest as well!!! That's lovely.

I guess it's the thought that counts. I would never leave my dog unattended in a strange place. On the other hand, who in their right mind brings a dog to IKEA? With Ebby in the car there would be no room for purchases....

Not only dogs, report here of a young child dying in a hot car.

Indeed. That is utterly horrifying. The 20min article only states that the family (including the father who travelled to TI) is in hospital. Also says that the mother cannot be interrogated at present - not surprising at all .

No matter what happened and if anyone is at fault, poor poor kiddo and poor family.

RIP little sunshine

Apparently the father's suing the mother now.

no words.. what makes it heartbreaking is it could have been easily avoided

11 years later… and this is still happening.

What. The. Hell. Is. Wrong. With. Some. People?

From the 20Min, In Kanton SZ, two dogs have died after being left in a car:

So time to roll out the usual hot weather PSA:

Do not, under any circumstances, leave your dog in a car in this weather. Not even for a minute!

And of course it goes without saying, do not leave your child either.

The article linked shows a table of how quickly temps can rise to the point of life threatening. Even relatively mild temps can lead to deaths if parked in the sun.

The advice in the OP as to steps to take if you see a dog left in a car still applies.

BTW, if your car has a Klima system that runs while your car is off, if you don’t want your windows bashed in by a concerned passerby it’s a good idea to put a big ol’ sign on the dash and rear window explaining that. But also be aware that even those systems might not be up to the task of cooling a car left in the sun in this heat.

Poor, poor dogs - what a senseless, horrible death.
