ZH/SZ - is it possible to get glasses made in a week?

I've stoopiddly smashed my specs, without which I am blind as a bat.

Normally I'd pop down to Fielmann for fast(ish) specs, but it seems that right now they can't guarantee anything before Christmas.

My local independent guy will take about as long.

So... can anyone recommend someplace, ideally around the Zürichsee bits of ZH/SZ, 'cause I don't fancy traveling to parts unknown when I can't see where I am going, to get varifocals made as quickly as possible, hopefully in a week?

Ideally looking for quite recent recommendations, as this seems to be tied to the current supply chain/lack of personnel problems.

I don’t know about Zurich but my husband got his from the visilab here in Neuchâtel last week in 5 days.

Extra thin varifocals with some coatings but I can’t remember which ones.

Smashed lens(es) or damaged frame?

If it's the frame, you could take them to an optician which stocks the same frame and they can pop out the lenses and re-set them into new frames.

My son snapped the hinge on his glasses and we were able to get the frame replaced (actually free of charge because he had a lifetime guarantee with that particular shop) while we stood and waited.

If none of that applies then I agree with Belgianmum and try Visilab or any of the bigger chains.

Do you know your prescription ? Mine is very basic, so I have expensive pair made for me by the optician, and three 'spare' pairs bought online via amazon.de

Admitedly three years ago but i got bifocals from visilab sihlcity in approx 3days. ( Was december)

I think they have a 40% sale at the moment, but not sure if its for lenses or frames ( or both!!)

Second Visilab, they have always been very fast.

Sounds like a visit to Visilab is in order.

I think there is one near the Zürich HB, which I should be able to navigate in my current foggy state.
