My daughter passed her driving test in the UK this year. She is 17 and has a Swiss B permit. Does anybody know if she is allowed to drive in Switzerland? All the research I have done so far tells me that you have to be 18 to be legally permitted to do so. We live in Valais.
Hi Julie,
I had a similar question a few years ago when my niece came to visit, and the answer was 'No' - 18 is the minimum age, even if one has a license from another country.
That thread:
Minimum Driving Age (Tourist)?
Said niece is now 18 and planning her annual visit this summer - and already asking to borrow my car. doG help us all.
She needs to be supervised by one of your more stentorian dogs:
Dear Meloncollie
Thanks so much for your reply. I thought that would be the case ... she's 18 in June, so CH beware!
Hi also something to note is that when i was going to change my UK licence to a swiss one that because I was under 25 I was going to have to get swiss lessons and sit the test here. Thankfully the nice man at the geminade said because I have been driving for 4 and a half years with no accidents i dont have too. Just something to point out for the future.
