The bike seems to be in good condition, only a few paint chips on the tank, no visible rust anywhere. Guy said bike passed inspection 1 year ago without problem. When I tested it, rear brake screeched, and shifting from N to first caused some grinding, but only if the engin was idling on N for 20-30 secs(if I killed the engin while waiting at the light, shifting from N to first is smooth)
Hello EF's motorheads. I am "inheriting" this Suzuki VX 800 from 1992 with 62'000 km on the clock from an acquaintance. I don't know much about bikes, having ridden only smaller bikes in Vietnam, and I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this bike, and how much I should give him for this "inheritance".
I would give him a crate of his favourite beverage of choice.
A bike of that age/mileage/type is not going to fetch any high prices. Then again somebody might pay a neat sum for it as it's been mfk'd recently then they'd ride it til it dies.
Rear will screech if it hasn't been run for a while.
Comparis says between 850 and 2690 chf , but in my opinion such a bike is worth as much as it was the costs of service and maintenance in last year(s).
I have a much newer bike, and theoretical it is worth between 1.500 and 2.500, but it is almost impossible to sell it for any price in Switzerland, so I decided to just store it somewhere till one day when I will have a garage for all my bikes
So yes, I would invite him for a dinner or as Ato suggested.
CHF 500.00 could be a good deal for both parties. Not a terribly popular bike but the engine looks cool and was reliable afaik
