2-3 month sabbatical with C-work permit

Hi folks

I've working in the software branche for more than a decade in Switzerland and there's enough work for me, but I definitely need a pause and then push my wage up in the next position. I gave today my termination letter so I still have to work for 2 months as in the contract says and then I will be free.

My questions are:

Do I have to inform the Gemeinde, RAV, or any other institution if I leave the country for 2-3 or perhaps 5 months max? What happens if I start a small software business in this time. Non-profit for the time. Is there any way to "declare" this work?

So long as you’re not out of the country for more than 6 months max in a set period you’re fine.

I assume you’d have to declare it on your tax return, but don’t think you need to do anything else except maybe set up as a sole trader?

Yes, i will try to work for a company if I get a couple of customers. Then I will ask.

If you go over the 6 months, the permit becomes invalid.

I think as long as you remain a resident, i.e. pay your rent, maintain your health insurance there would be little chance anyone would question you.

If you sublet your flat and cancel your health insurance, that would likely raise alarms.
