To all my fellow procrastinators please take note, we have but only 2 days left before our 2010 Autobahn vignettes expire to become null and void…!!
If caught driving on the motorways of Switzerland without a 2011 sticker starting the first of February there’s a mandatory chf 100.- fine. Be forewarned, snipers (er ah, I mean “sighters”) armed with binoculars will be waiting along many off ramps to “take out” and fine offenders.
Strange coincidence - I also thought about this today, and was up the Post Office this morning, and was able to remove the last two, without scratching off some of the anti-glare strip on the windscreen (that I'd foolishly stuck them on, in a hurry)
Just, another thought -- what do other 'bikers do about displaying their vignette. I always keep mine in my wallet with the Fahrzeugausweiss, but technically, this isn't valid.
Before I moved here, when I came here with the 'bike, from London, I did get one prior to the visit, and stuck it on the outside of one of the hand guards. For 2 wks. in the summer that was fine, but for a whole year, I cant help thinking that through a combination of weather and possible curious fingers, it probably wouldn't last a year. [I can't ever recall seeing another bike with a vignette stuck on it.]
It’s fine to change the title in cases like this in order to make it more relevant to a current situation.
It’s changing titles in order to take the piss etc which is not acceptable.
The site says:
The demand for e-vignettes is currently very high. This can lead to delays in the processing of payments and the sending of PDF receipts. We apologise for the inconvenience.
People have had 3 months to buy their vignettes. Wait until 2 AM I’m sure the site will be working perfectly then. Or just go to any petrol/gas station.
They should just include it in the road tax for Swiss vehicles. And for those infrequent drivers who don’t use the highway then they can opt out of the vignette tax but then face heavy fines if they are caught.
It obviously makes sense for foreign drivers as a flat fee to use the highways, but for the rest of us it’s just a yearly chore.
I knew somebody would say that
They also have the right to buy it today.
We can’t do that as our government (no matter if we exchange it, seems to be a bug in Bern) tend to forget that. So after a while of including they will invent an other one on top. Just like with those petrol-prices, which were supposed to be preliminary. Since the 70-ies now, if I remember correctly.
I’m not, I thanked you for the reminder, remember?
I just laughed about your Swissy “they had three months” remark. And even that wasn’t shooting, you wait until I start shooting! You’ll feel the difference
PS: It’s curley, not Curley, in the style of Liza Minelli’s song
I like the current ritual just the way it is. Its like the Zen of auto maintenance to me. Similar to standing in line at the car wash on Saturday and switching back and forth from winter and summer tires. I really enjoy replacing that sticker every year. I even got a power bank this year for only 10 franks extra at the Post.
Wow, we’re so different. Car wash on Saturdays? Seriously?
I’m on my winter tires for two years now because I became too lazy and drive less lately. Guess it will be the summertires this spring simply because the winter tires will be through.
Replacing the vignette? I collect them next to each other only ruined by my garage when they take it to m.o.t who they claim don’t like my collection.
I was offered that power bank and declined it. Now you make me wonder if I missed something.
I prefer to channel my little energy left after work to keep the a clean car interior, conditioning leather and plastic surfaces to prevent peeling and cracks . Also, conditioning the rubber seals to keep the car watertight.
Everyone is different. I’m happy with the e-vignette. The old sticker is an eye sore. I bought it by 2nd week of January , paid via twint and PDF receipt by email within a minute.
