I have used part of my 2nd pillar pension 4 years ago to purchase my current home in Switzerland. I'll now be moving back to the UK in the summer and I do plan to sell my Swiss property.
I understand that the pension withdrawal can still be used to purchase property within the EU (as your primary residence). Therefore, this amount will come in very useful for the purchase of a UK property.
Has anyone had any experience with this process in moving back to the UK? or using it within the EU?
If you are leaving swiss for good then yes you can take this money with you. All you need to do is get a form stamped at the control d'habitants to say you are leaving the country then send this to your pension company who will then release your funds.
Re pillar pension pay-outs. My interest too. I think you may be able to draw cash if you are self-employed. This process is probably easier o set up than in Geneva so perhaps one way to draw cash is to establish own company in UK, then later becoming employed. You even then get the LPP amount paid I guess.
Anyone know any good advisory company on anglo swiss tax / 2eme pillar issues ?
You will first need to pay the money back in full into your pension upon sale of the property. Then you withdraw what ever then allow you to from your pension when you leave Switzerland.
