Any ideas, in particular from those with US English, which is what I have to translate into? I've googled and thought and everything, trust me...
Right, I am sat inside in this gorgeous weather, trying to do a translation that is basically German manager speak BS bingo. They are big on the "4-Augen Prinzip", which is where one person does the work and another person checks it. I would say double check but that could be done by the same person and it's important to have it be clear that two people must do the task.
The only thing that comes to mind is quality control, but that's usually manufacturing...
I saw the four-eye principle thing in LEO and then asked a few English speakers who haven't worked in Switzerland whether they knew what it meant - they reckoned they didn't. Two-man rule makes sense but I have been told I have to used gender-neutral terminology at all times (I HATE pointless political correctness!).

That could work. I'll try and see if the two-man rule flies with them after all first though, since it seems to be an accepted term in general. There's being PC and then there's being unclear.

Depends really on context, how much your manger is into the MBS, and how formal the document has to be.

Of course, in reality, as opposed to principle, I yell over to my colleague 'Hey, Heidi, approve this for me'. So an extra step is added without any benefit.

My auditor colleagues say "the four-eyes principle" and it seems to be understood internationally among the species. It made me laugh at first too because it does sound like you need a nerdy guy with specs to get a good job.
But if you're looking for something more universal your "two-man" (or "two-person" if you have to be PC) solution was perfectly clear.
