419 Scam of the Day [Email Scams, Phishing, etc.]

maybe not but the scammers do?

How do I know it is a scam? Looks perfectly reasonable to me …

Banks don’t send attachements with which you authorise stuff (or QR codes to that effect). Instead they’d tell you to log into your account where a message is waiting for you, or some such.

I take it omtatsat did not make that payment to Digitec which is why he posted it on here.
or what ever … never heard of Cembra before. A bank?

Yes, a bank. Predominantly known for issuing the Cumulus credit cards to Migros customers, until a few years ago when Migros decided to end the cooperation.

I just read today that the “Robinson List” was hacked…which means more than 600,000 people’s data (names / adresses / phone numbers ), specifically people who did NOT want to be called by spammers, are now for sale …to spammers :poop:

Oh wow, the “Robinson List” still exists??

I’m on there. But boy, I must have moved at least twice and changed my phone even more often (that was back in them days when every time you got a new handy, you got a new number, LOL) since I registered.
Poor sods who have my phone-no. now.

edit: Actually in today’s world I would never leave my data on such a list, exactly for this reason; it’s kind of counterproductive.

Omtartsat. I’ve decided to put you on my ignore list as you are repeatedly making posts in German without any summary or hint of what it is about. I’m certain you won’t miss me.

Well you asked “They speak German in cembria?”. A wierd question.

In reply to your previous post of a German email with no translation.

Seriously??

Seriously

German should always be taken seriously.

and the scam is? That you don’t believe a German means it when he shouts I love you?

Actually that reminds me of my first moment on a moped. I took off and it stood up like a horse and my foster-father shouted after me: “Don’t you dare come back hurt”!
He was obviously worried sick.

Or, and hear me out on this, given that this is an English-language forum, you could have save all the readers the bother and translated it before posting?

I received a genuine-looking email from Microsoft.com stating I had exceeded my OneDrive storage and to click a link to fix it.
Surprising as I have no OneDrive files

To be sure, I logged into Microsoft.com - not using the link in the email - and indeed, no files.

Oh no, I got an email to inform me that my Spotify has been cancelled and I need to click on a link to update my payment information:

Very considerate of them to write to me in Spanish.

I got the same message…even if I never had Spotify on my life… they should take my course on ’ targeting customers’
