We will probably never experience that kind of tectonic shift in music again.
On the otherhand; Yes has brought out a new album and it premiers tomorrow.
The world is going to hell, but at least Psychedelica is still there.
Now where is my “herbal” tea.
I remember sitting on a bus bench in the pouring cold rain in some bleak town in northern England, singing Eleanor Rigby with my sister…the album and single had just been released, and it seemed to fit the mood.
I very vividly remember my mum making fun of me for being a “square” in my taste of music, but I do like the Beatles and I have a very fleeing memory of being taken to a concert.
I was in Row 5 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in August 1964, curtesy of my childhood friend whose father worked for NBC and got tickets that were worth their weight in gold. We screamed so loud we could not possibly have heard the music.
