8 March 2026 vote/votations/Volksabstimmungen

So? At least we got to vote on it, unlike other so-called democracies where these decisions are made for them. There were majorities in every Canton that favoured the status quo.

I very reluctently pay 55€’s every three months to watch ARD and ZDF and the thirds.
Not that I do, mainly because they are shit, but paying is mandatory, even if you dont have a TV or radio or any other means of receiving the programs, you have to pay on pain of a heavy fine if you dont.

Lol, I used to watch Swiss Dinners, everyone gave the food 4 out of 5 even if it was horrible. Unlike Come Dine With Me in Britain where people get torn to shreds and one really rude idiot put meat in front of a vegetarian and said “you can just eat the veg because I think you’re being difficult”

That one doesn’t need a double majority. It doesn’t amend the constitution.

Thanks
I get easily confused.

I voted against the change in TV license fee. Public television is important. It’s going to cost more in Switzerland than in Germany or France, simply because the broadcast has to be in three languages (sometimes a fourth).

Although I think they could maybe save on some programming. Tatort is the most boring program in the history of TV (imo) and it probably costs a fortune.

The Swiss are “gaga”. They want to get rid of their money and pay more when they can pay less. Sick!

This shows how little you know about the country you are living in and its people.

CHF100 a year is nothing compared to keeping this strong symbol of Swiss nationalism - and what the Swiss of all four languages regard, rightly or wrongly, in a world of disinformation a source of honest reporting…

I’d say for many voters it was preferable to fund the media themselves rather than rely on Murdoch or Musk

Comparis estimates streaming costs for a

Light user (e.g. Netflix Standard + Spotify Individual): about 39 CHF/month.

Typical multi‑platform user (Netflix Standard + Disney+ base + Amazon Prime + Spotify Individual): about 68–70 CHF/month

Heavy user (Netflix Premium + Disney+ high tier + HBO Max mid tier + Apple TV+ + Spotify Family): easily 100+ CHF/month.

… and legal Swiss pirate 0 CHF.

I don’t care about Swiss TV because of the ads. They should pay us to watch that bullshit. But I read their news page on the Internet (with an ad filter) sometimes, so I’m OK paying for that. BTW: Tatort is the only crime show I like, since many decades. But I wouldn’t watch it on Swiss TV because it is the only place they show it with ads. Ads even Sundays, even between news and weather!

But then people are stupid anyhow. In Spain they produce for the whole world and it is free without any ads. Free? I know some guys who worked for RTVE, they are very rich, got paid even for taking a shower or the time buying an expensive suit paid for by the company. You pay it with tax and you probably pay a lot more. And just watch the stupid news-like shows: it is paid by the actual government and you can see that every time, no real journalism!

Off-topic:
Comparis is corrupted, companies have to pay to be compared(!). Never ever believe anything you see there. I could never find a really cheap phone plan there, they are excluded somehow. They say “Wherever possible, products and services are included in comparisons irrespective of whether the provider works with comparis.ch”, whatever “whenever possible” means. Why should it be impossible for example to include Hong Kong phone plans for Switzerland in their comparison?

I can’t stand the way news presenters talk. Taking themselves too seriously, the cadence, etc. But, the news websites (srf, rts) are nice to have. Not as good as proper newspaper, but already better than 20min, watson, blick an the like. I listen to music on the radio a lot, so I guess my money pays for something.

But, the most important, the individual taxation initiative got the approval. Welcome to the 20th century!!! Ahhh, Valais rejected it…why am I not surprised?

Here in Rüebliland, 55.% of voters approved the initiative “stop speed-camera rip-offs”. So, new speed cameras need cantonal authorisation, they need to be justified.

The initiative launched by the youth section of the centre-right Racial-Liberal Party anchors a new cantonal authorisation requirement for stationary speed and red light monitoring systems in the Police Act. Semi-stationary installations will be limited in time.

Parliament, the cantonal government as well as the Radical-Liberals and the right-wing Swiss People’s Party were in favour of the initiative. They argued that clear rules were needed and that the systems would not be banned. Opponents argued it was populist and jeopardised road safety.

Hi, I like Tatort as well, and I watch it on the SRF app, so there are no adverts. Sometimes I connect my computer to the television if I fancy a bigger screen, or I stream it directly from the iPad.

I do not usually watch SRF live when I want to watch series, documentaries, and the like.

I don’t mind the yearly fee.

I was wondering when the individual taxation would be implemented. I read 2032 in several articles. Not smiling now.

But it was known beforehand that the date is 2032.

I lived in happy ignorance

Give birth to 3 kids to have more deductions (they are going to double the deductions for each kid so that every spouse can deduct the amount that the family can deduct from the shared income nowadays).
