A good Sofa-Bed

Hi pinging the collective knowledge from EF.

Where can I buy a really good sofa-bed? One that is actually better suited for a bed rather than a sofa.

context: we will put this in our home office and we regularly have visitors who stay over. They usually sleep in the office. We rarely use the sofa in the office as a sitting area but putting a bed in the office is not what we want. For this reason looking for something that is comfortable as a bed ... but is not a bed

Happy to buy on line or in store (ideally Vaud).

“Good” is very relative in this area…

For a long time we have been using an Ikea LYCKSELE LÖVÅS Convertible

It’s a no-frills solution, very compact, not very useful or sightly as a sitting sofa but works in a tight space in an office and as a bed is quite comfortable and big enough to sleep two people. Only drawback it doesn’t offer a headboard

None of them are very good, which is actually a blessing is disguise

If the bed isn't comfortable, people tend to move on a bit quicker !!

A Murphy bed is another possibility for an office.

That gets you a comfortable bed but no bed when you don't want one.

Good enough that I wouldn't mind sleeping there for a week

Was waiting for this reply ... if they stay too long we just ask them to do the dishes, cooking, cleaning the bathroom... usually does the trick

We have one of those too and it does the job.

Our son slept on it for a couple of weeks when he had his leg in plaster and couldn’t easily get up the stairs to his room and he said it was quite comfortable. (He was around 80kg at the time if that helps).

To be honest, I’ve found that the overwhelming majority of sofa beds need a mattress topper to make them comfortable. You can buy mattress toppers of various sizes (and thicknesses) on amazon.de for quite cheap. They usually come rolled up (and so they can be easily shipped) and then expand once you unpack them.

We have this sofa bed from Ikea, which pulls out into a 130x191 bed. It is very firm, though, but with a ~8 cm thick topper on it, it is very comfortable. The topper also helps fill in or cover up the crack or dent that runs down the middle of it, so you don’t feel that crack while lying on it.

I have one of these in my office, which I think is a good middle ground. It has a spring mattress which is very comfortable:

We have a large KS Natuzzi one- it has a proper mattress and is very comfortable- we also put a comforter on top of mattress. They are quite expensive, but we were lucky to buy it from second-hand from someone on EF who was moving away.

They have a shop in Etoy, not far from Lausanne.

Have you tested the Swiss Plus Sofa Bed from Pfister?
