A1 Grundkurs - Pick-e-Bike

Has anyone here done, the Pick-e-bike A1 Grundkurs?

Background: I got my car licence 25 years ago in the UK. When I came to Switzerland 10 years ago and exchanged my UK licence for a Swiss one only the Category B was on the new licence.

I now know that at the time I could have asked for the A and it would have been grandfathered in, but we are way beyond that now.

I am looking at the A1 kurs mainly for the flexibility of being able to hire a scooter on holidays etc.

No, but I’ve been researching the topic. Looks like we also need to make first-aid course. If you made B in Switzerland you don’t have to “repeat” it. Anyway, my problem is a language barrier.

In GE and, I believe, VD it is possible to take written driving tests in English.

It is in Neuchâtel too.

No driving tests needed for A1 if you already hold a Category B license. Funny, AI just told me: you only need to complete 4 hours of the basic course (instead of the standard 3 parts). I thought 3x4h + first aid course are needed. I guess I’ll message the cantonal office to get the details.

Not sure where you are but this is the course I am looking at:

Mainly because they supply the bike, insurance and helmet.

As far as I am aware you would need the 12 hour but without the first-aid if you already hold a B-permit.

I see that’s e-bike specific, but the category would be just A1 (or somewhat restricted to e-bike?)

I haven’t asked for details, but schools around me seems to list the need for first aid course

Nothelferkurs: Muss absolviert sein (max. 6 Jahre gültig).
