Hi All
hs anyone done an A1 motorbike test recently who can share their experience? My son has a test booked in a few weeks and is getting nervous about failing the test which he will take on a 125 Vespa.
he's done all of the training but im thinking if there are any drills I can get him to perform in a car park somewhere to help prepare him. he did the 12 hours mandatory training but I think would feel comfortable knowing what to expect and what he should practice and be aware of (usual gotchas!)
thanks as always.
Not the A1, but 2 years ago the A limited (and this year my friend did his exam, and I was helping him prepare).
Train at the exam place, know the flow of the manoeuvres - e.g. in Albisguetli it’s spuergasse, slalom and then 8, while in Hinwil it’s 8, spuergasse and then the slalom. Emergency brake always comes last.
For A1, does he need to ride with the exam person as pillion? If yes, PRACTICE AS MUCH AS HE CAN. I found that it’s a different feeling when there is two people, especially with braking.
No passenger for A1 and the examiner was in a car. I will feedback that he was scored down for going too slow! Yes bizzare . We checked his speedo and found this to be somewhat off which May explain it but he was following the speed limits as per his speedo. We will calibrate this as a lot of scooters are know to be out by 10-15%.
Congrats! Have many safe kilometres
