Advice on kids shows?

Hi, there

I am wondering whether someone with children could help me out with some info. My brother and his family live in the U.S., and I have bought a DVD recorder to tape German TV shows to support his daughter in learning German (she also goes to German school, and my brother tries to speak German, but that is not always easy as his wife speaks none). Of course, kids should not watch too much TV, but their rule is that if she does, it has to be German.

So, here is my question: Could you recommend some shows that you find especially helpful for kids to watch when they are in the process of learning German? My niece is 3.

Obviously, being single with no kids, I am completely unfamiliar with these shows.

Thanks a lot

Idgie

Hi

I can offer *almost* no advice here. One thing I did find early on wasn't a TV show but a series of videos (maybe available by now on DVD) which we picked up at the BBC Shop in London, called "Muzzy".

Here's a link for some general information: http://www.early-advantage.com/

The kids liked them. I found the presentation of German grammar pretty suitable for our (then small) kids.
