Nvidia is hugely overvalued but will sell a lot over the next few quarters so expect more from the hype train.
Roller coaster was too much for me so I sold NVDA pre-earnings but bought AMD options (cheaper than NVDA options) in case of the hypetrain exploding up. But given the huge move, I would have been better with NVDA options at a higher strike (30x return vs 7x return). Now I'm kicking myself for not buying more!
It wouldn't surprise me if NVDA hits 400 this session. I'm kinda tempted to short it but know it is way too dangerous - similar to shorting TSLA in 2020.
Let's see how the stock does next quarter. I'd estimate their earnings for next Q could approach $2 per share. That would be 2.4 times the current quarter EPS and a staggering 3.5x the prior quarter. Even if you assume $8 annual EPS, heck, even $10 EPS you'd still need huge multiples to justify the current share price.
AI definitely already exists in the real world and has been used for quite some time. You just not might not realise it as it is behind the scenes. It's going to be used a lot more and will be pervasive. As an AMD shareholder, I wish AMD had been more on the ball and positioned them to take market share, but I think they will be too late/slow and see Nvidia taking the lion's share of the market over the next few years.
unfortunately, they flubbed it. got a few nerds on to do the talking who could barely string sentences together and underplayed AI (probably wise given that they have nothing until next year or earliest Q4 this year).
shame, i wanted them to overhype so that i could sell.
One really nice consequence of AI will be the demise of journalists working for junk media. No need to hack phones or follow victims, just get AI to generate your copy. It will probably be more based in fact than the human product. Who cares anyway? Tucker Carson is redundant. All those Murdoch and DT journalists will soon be gone.
Well, go the update from my employer that we have access to Bing Chat Enterprise. This is a version of ChatGPT where user and business data are protected.
Before end of year I have to fix some bugs in a calculation software we develop. I'll use this version. Let's see how it works.
PS. I'm curious if my employer is interested in learning which kind of work can be automated
You can live forever with AI! “There is a good chance that I will live forever,” says AI expert and ex-Open AI manager Zack Kass
Zack Kass headed the go-to-market department at chat GPT manufacturer Open AI until spring 2023. He expects artificial intelligence to solve all scientific questions and defeat climate change and death.
This is pretty worrying, especially if it means scammers/hackers will be able to produce flawless English (and other languages) and up their game in manipulation techniques.
