Sadly, not in Geneva. Or even if the aircon is on, you won't feel it. A/C here must mean air circulation.
Anybody have any recommendations of portable AC units (cost isn't a huge issue if it is for a good unit)? I work out of my home office; and my work during this heat wave was even more lazy than my normal already very lazy self. That's a bad recipe. I admit I am a wimp when it comes to being in a hot flat.
I've also noticed that nobody is complaining about the refrigerated and frozen sections without doors...(continuously running refrigeration) or the clothing shops with air conditioning and open doors all summer. And of course, heating homes to 25 or more degrees in winter.
Time to re-evaluate our standards. Many people do get sick in summer. I'm prone to heatstroke, three times already this summer due to low electrolytes (not dehydration). I have a friend that has developed heat edema already. That's what happens when it's over 30 degrees and there's no ac and people have a religion that says air conditioners are the work of the devil.

this is the one I have. It works rather well. But it doesn't cool any lower than 25 degrees. That's largely due to the lack of sealed exhaust system. If we owned, we'd drill a hole in the wall.
You can get one of these:

But I think it's largely cosmetic.
