Alcohol for Homemade Limoncello in Switzerland?

Has anyone here ever made homemade Limoncello, using alcohol from Switzerland?

Traditional recipes call for Everclear, which is not available here.

What are alternative and easily-available alcohols / vodkas which can be used to make a good limoncello? I'm in the French-speaking region, if that changes any of my options.

You can use a high-level proof Vodka, which technically isn't considered to be Vodka, as Vodka should only have a 40% alcohol content. Look for a Vodka with a 50% alcohol content, that should do the trick. The important part are the lemons, that makes a huge difference IMO.

If you want to get anal about it you can make your finished product a bit smoother by charcoal filtering the alcohol before infusing - let it drip through a Brita type filter pitcher a few times.

I buy it in Italy, 95%.

Is it a new Coronavirus recipe to stay happy at home?

OMG, reminds me of the time I showed up at a golf tournament, very under the weather after attending a party that ran into the wee hours.

Waiting to get onto the first tee, gasping with thirst, and a mate pulled out a bottle that appeared to have some kind of citrusy soft drink. Grabbed it (an understanding mate), and took multiple gulps to quench my thirst.

Uh oh, wrong taste for soft drink.

Home made limoncello.

Definitely helped to keep my head down for every swing, but that was also the longest round of golf in my life...
