There are vegan restaurants out there and no harm in that. Anyway, I share the annoyance of some tourists because there’s no sign outside that tells “alcohol-free”. What a waste of time.
Transparency is welcome, smoking bars say “smoking bar” outside, saunas have a sign with sauna, not restaurant.
Anyway, it’s funny to see the reactions of hotel guests to alcohol-free wine. Yes, too bitter…and too boring
The traditional hotel “Bellevue au Lac” has been in the hands of a rich investor from the Emirates since this year. Since then there has been no alcohol or pork on offer. Some locals are sceptical.
Be my guest - we’ll see if they make enough money with their concept.
Director Bergmann has resigned already.
Fun factor: In the film it’s mentioned that a SVP guy sold his hotel (an other one) to an Indian.
The only thing that puzzled me was the mention of the ground the hotel is on. How can a foreigner not living here buy ground in Switzerland?
And the other thing that is definitely not correct is that guests are not informed until they actually sit at the table. It should be published at the entrance as well as on the website etc.
True, I\m looking forward seeing the ‘no meat’, and ‘bio’ announcement on their menu…
well, in any case, they can wait for me. Where is this hotel, btw? next to the Kosher ones in St Moritz?
But, if you’re strolling by the lakeside, see a nice terrace and feel like having a drink…no sign, annoying.
I guess the summer is high season for guests that share the no alcohol, no pork and not smoking idea. I don’t see high occupancy in winter. Supply and demand will bring things back to normal. For now, a funny oddity.
My thought entirely. Or maybe there are enough Swiss residents who will enjoy it.
The porc thing is missing on the website though. Actually the porc thing is much weirder to me.
haha i also saw it in the news, crazy, considering how in dubai in hotels you can have a fountain of alcohol with dancing pigs if you want just sad that more and more swiss companies are being sold elsewhere across all industries, don’t know about people in general, but feels like life and economy indeed became much worse here in the past decade
Lots of places don’t have pork on their menu every day. And I welcome the no-smoking idea, which I don’t think is motivated by religious sentiments. Smoking should not be permitted anywhere on a restaurant’s premises particularly the terraces.
Lots of tired, run-down places have got better with foreign investment.
Many of the grand hotels and other places have been very slowly running into the ground since the middle of the last century.
Look at how successful the Bürgenstock resort has now become with foreign investment.
Andermatt is another place seeing new light.
Modern tourists and business users do not particularly want Schnitzel-pommes/raclette every night - they really aren’t the draw any more. These newer places are serving international cuisine.
Bürgenstock has still retained one old-style restaurant - it’s just that people don’t need to go there every night any more.
Our police-chief friend in the Emirates has for years brought his entire extended family (30+ people) to CH for holidays. This would probably appeal to him…
