I'm going to buy a mobile subscription for my wife. She has a daily, rather long train commute to work and back, so she prefers to working with her cellphone's internet access while on the train. That's why I need a fast, good-coverage and as flat as possible (meaning huge data monthly limit) subscription.
Does anybody know about the best, most profitable mobile data plan, as unlimited as possible, that we can have in Switzerland?
Please be more specific. Do you need a mobile plan with the data subscription or do you need a pure data package. Will you use this on a mobile phone or a tablet?
Thanks for the reply. We look for a mobile plan, but data is the most important for us, because we don't call/text that much. We use it on a mobile phone.
However if you don't text-call much, you can do the prepaid...250MB for only 7.95...even if she has to renew that 2 or 3 times per month it's still fairly cheap.
Depending on how much you use, you might be better off with one of the prepay carriers.
Looking at what was available when I arrived here the best option for me was lyca mobile. I've paid about 20chf for 1gb of data a few calls and a bunch of sms. enough to see me through the month now that I am no longer dependent on a company phone. And nowhere near as scary as the prices of some of the contract plans from the major carriers here.
but without a proper usage profile, it will be hard for anyone to give good recommendations.
I know it's not the topic of the thread but do you also have problems to recharge through their website? They could not accept my AMEX and I regularly have "fail - disconnection - try again later" when I want to recharge.
They also over-charged me some calls. Nothing much (charged 5f instead of 3.5) but not nice.
I just used the number from time to time to make calls to foreign countries - could not find cheaper
I had to top up with a card in the UK because they wouldn't accept my card in CH. The form just kept saying the card # was invalid. Anyway I have no foreign transaction fees and a market forex rate so I'm not really bothered much. Otherwise it worked fine.
An alternative for cheap foreign calls is rebtel but it's can be a bit more inconvenient to use than just dialling through the phone and not an app/proxy no.
