On my short commute to work (2min), I've overheard a conversation between 2 women on the bus. One was yip-yapping about how she's an alpha female and yadayadayadya....and I started to think, why does every woman who proclaims to be an alpha female, keeps on running her mouth about it? To me, strong men and women do not feel the need to announce their greatness to the world...but women, who (most likely through lack of self-esteem and a couple of relationship mishaps) loose their vocal inhibitions tend to spew out raw sewage on a frequent basis. What's your take on (self-proclaimed) alpha females?
The reason I ask is, women of the tender age of 15 up to middle 20s are quite insecure and need constant verbal assurement (from themselves and those around them) that they are in control and all abide to their will.
A woman in power does not need to boast about it. But power usually comes with wisdom. And wisdom means you're long done with your stupid teenager bird brain.
Well, unfortunatelly ze women ov ze opposite sex not always get rid of their teenager bird brain in the middle 20's.
When one watches too many Sex and the City and Hollywood romantic comedies, one might think teenager bird brain is all the way, baby!
(To be honest, I had never heard the use of the term "alpha female" outside the elephant/lioness herd/pride. On the other hand I use "alpha male" as a pejorative)
Yes, yes...I got the age right. Typical single, middle-class, 40 something divorcee...ya know, them ones who think Sarah Jessica Parker is all the way, Baby! (using Helm's quote )
There is a big difference between assuring that one is in charge and one is fat.
Body image is a concern of most men and women, whether suffering in silence or being vocal about those fears.
The showing off of power is a completely unrelated topic, though the need to show one is in charge over other people might have been triggered by the sensation of loss of power over ones body (meaning, desperately finding your body does not respond positively to your beauty standards).
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEI! Like that it sounds like I'm a fan!!!! *fish slap*
